The Shepherd’s Center of Northern Virginia (SCNOVA) has been serving the region for over 25 years. We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Outreach Associate due to new funding. Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for service, lifelong learning, social connection, individual well-being, and independent living for older adults in the communities we serve. We are looking for an Outreach Associate, a “people person”, who can successfully manage new opportunities for inclusion as well as manage existing community outreach, data reporting, recruitment of volunteers and clients(?), present to various civic groups, and strengthen the overall dissemination of the SCNOVA mission. We are a small but mighty staff, with a dedicated board of directors, and over 200+ volunteers that help us get the job done! Our focus is on alleviating isolation and loneliness by making connections, offering free medical and companion transportation, socialization with lunch events, and educational programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate the expansion of service programs throughout our service area, especially in Reston and Herndon. Our goal is to reach and recruit more potential clients and volunteers, especially in under-served areas of our territory. We will collaboratively research ways to connect and invite more engagement, implement strategies, and evaluate for success.
- Work with the team to recruit new community partners and work with existing Congregational Advisory Council (CAC) members to maintain relationships, offer volunteer recruitment opportunities, establish client referrals, and increase event awareness.
- Represent SCNOVA to various sponsoring organizations, government agencies, civic organizations, and similar groups where we might offer seminars, workshops, attend fairs, and establish regular communications and relationships. Collaborate with marketing for collaterals, flyers and other outreach materials.
- Collaborate with staff to collect data on the success of outreach efforts.
- Report regularly to the Executive Director regarding the overall status of the outreach program.
- Ensure that services are carried out in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and are based on the highest ethical standards of conduct, including maintaining client confidentiality.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience. Experience in development, marketing, sales, or other client-facing account management preferred. Demonstrated experience reaching diverse community-based groups, nonprofits, faith-based congregations, and other populations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills especially with older adults and volunteers. Competence to adapt well to changing priorities. Strong organization skills to research, plan, implement and evaluate goals and strategies. Ability to work independently. Must be tech savvy (MS Suite) with the aptitude to learn new platforms quickly. Other duties as they may apply.
Other: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Some events may require evening or weekend attendance. This position is at-will with no benefits. This position is project-dependent, from June 2024 through May 2026, and will be re-evaluated at that time.
Benefits: SCNOVA offers a competitive salary and paid time off. Health insurance is not available.
