Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with Shepherd’s Center of Northern Virginia! Our volunteers play a vital role in helping older adults age in place through services, companionship, and community support.
How to Apply
There are two easy ways to apply:

- Download and complete the Volunteer Application & Agreement here, then return it by:

Volunteer Eligibility Requirements:
- Individuals serving as Office or Friendly Connections volunteers (Friendly Caller, Friendly Visitor, or Handy Helper) are at least 21 years old and able to pass a background check paid for by SCNOVA.
- Volunteer drivers are at least 25 years old and able to pass a background check that includes a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) paid for by SCNOVA.
- All applications are fully completed prior to continuing with onboarding.
Additional Driver Requirements & Safety Notice
To ensure the safety of our volunteers and participants, volunteer drivers will meet all licensing, insurance, background check, and driving record requirements.
The Shepherd’s Center of Northern Virginia reserves the right to limit or modify volunteer driving duties based on safety considerations.

What Happens Next
After receiving your application, the Volunteer Manager will contact you to schedule a brief introductory call. During this call, we’ll get to know each other better, share more about SCNOVA’s programs and volunteer roles, and review next steps in the onboarding process.
