Operations and Volunteer Coordinator
The Shepherd’s Center of Northern Virginia (SCNOVA) is a well-established, non-denominational, non-profit organization that supports adults age 50+ and promotes healthy aging, wellness, and independence. Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for service, lifelong learning, social connection, individual well-being, and independent living for older adults in the communities we serve. We have an immediate opening for someone who wants to make a difference by joining our staff as the Operations and Volunteer Coordinator. The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults as well as volunteers and can successfully help manage a fast-paced environment. We are a small staff, with a dedicated board of directors, and over 150+ volunteers that help us carry out our mission.
Requirements: 2+ years’ experience in the professional world with knowledge of responsibilities, database systems and standard operating procedures. Must be able to use MS Office with the aptitude to learn new platforms quickly. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills on the phone and in person. Competence to adapt to changing priorities. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Reports to the Executive Director. Part-time: 16-20 hours per week, hours may vary. This position is at-will with no health benefits.
Volunteer Coordinator Duties:
Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to help ensure the effective and efficient operations of the office, with volunteers, participants, and general inquiries.
- Support the team to attract, train, and recruit volunteers.
- Enter volunteer and client applications in the database systems.
- Assist in training for the volunteer programs.
- Coordinate and report weekly and monthly program statistics.
- Schedule rides and assist with phone support when the office volunteer is unavailable.
- Participate and assist with SCNOVA external activities.
- Ensure that services are carried out in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and are based on the highest ethical standards of conduct, including maintaining client confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Operational Duties:
- Assist day-to-day management of the SCNOVA office.
- Assist as point of contact for all vendors (copier, printers, phones, computer repair).
- Assist with inventory and management of office supplies and other materials as needed.
- Assist with “Mail-outs” with volunteers and material to the post office.
- Other duties as assigned.
