T’ai Chi (AIL Semester Series)

› Services › Adventures in Learning (Classes) › Adventures in Learning Semester Series › T’ai Chi (AIL Semester Series)

T’ai Chi is a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. T’ai Chi is sometimes described as meditation in motion because it promotes serenity through gentle movements – connecting the mind and body.

Instructor: Rob Gehring

Classes are held every Monday and Thursday, from 9:00-9:45 a.m., during the fall 2021 AIL semester (Sep 30th – Nov 18th) and continuing thereafter to and through each subsequent AIL semester. Enrollment in each AIL semester entitles you to participate in T’ai Chi sessions during that semester and until the next semester begins. Classes are available all year with the exception of August and during certain Holiday periods. All participants must be fully vaccinated and wear a mask at in-person sessions inside.

Every participant must enroll in AIL for the semester. The semester enrollment fee is $55 which allows participation in any/all AIL classes during the semester including T’ai Chi. To register for AIL, or for more information on the program, go here.

Classes will meet twice a week:
•  Thursdays – in the Unitarian Universalist Church (2709 Hunter Mill Rd, Oakton VA 22124). Attendees must show proof of vaccination and wear a mask.
•  Mondays – in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church (2589 Chain Bridge Rd, Oakton VA 22181). Attendees must show proof of vaccination and wear a mask.
•  During Spring and Summer – weather permitting, classes may be held outside at Nottoway Park in Vienna (9537 Courthouse Rd, Vienna VA 22181)
•  In inclement weather or when churches are not available – classes will be held by Zoom. Registered AIL enrollees will receive a Zoom link by email. If you do not receive a Zoom link, please contact the office at 703.281.0601.

Note: during inclement weather, AIL semester classes will follow the Fairfax County School System determination of cancellation or delay.
